Cannabidiol or cbd for dogs is a phytochemical that is believed to be the most powerful and widely used component of marijuana. Cannabidiol is actually a phytochemical found in 1940. It is among the 113 identified active cannabinoids in marijuana plants and constitutes more than 40% of the entire plant’s extract. It has several important benefits in humans. Here we shall look at its medical properties and how it can be used as an anti-inflammatory.
This is probably the most well-known and extensively researched of all the medicinal compounds found in marijuana. It has numerous therapeutic properties, the most important of which are its ability to reduce inflammation and provide pain relief. A recent study by the University of California School of Medicine showed that the healing properties of cannabidiol are directly related to the concentration and level of endorphins in the body.
In addition to reducing pain and providing relief from depression, cannabidiol also appears to be effective in the treatment of some psychological disorders such as anxiety, schizophrenia and phobias. The substance abuse potential is quite high. People who abuse this substance experience at least three times the effect that people who consume the substance in the pure state. Cannabidiol has not been considered a stimulant, thus it has very low potential for addiction. It has not been ruled out that cannabidiol may play a role in the development of Parkinson’s disease (PD) and possibly other nervous system diseases.
Although CBD oil does not produce the “high” that most people are used to getting from smoking marijuana, it does produce the same “high” associated with the calming effect of caffeine. Unlike caffeine, however, the “high” produced by cannabidiol does not fade over time and actually increases in intensity. This increase in intensity is believed to be the reason for the success of using cannabidiol to treat disorders of the mood, including depression and anxiety. Anecdotal evidence supports the view that cannabidiol has a similar effect on the brain as the use of prescription drugs used to treat these disorders. If this hypothesis is correct, it may be possible to use CBD to successfully mimic the effects of these drugs.
There are also some indications that CBD may have some benefit in treating high blood pressure. Two small clinical trials involving more than 300 participants both showed that people taking small doses of cannabidiol had lower blood pressure than those taking a placebo. The studies did not provide details on the doses or the length of the studies. Because these studies were not double-blind, there is no way to determine whether the participants actually had lower blood pressure.
In a large clinical trial involving more than 1000 patients with mild to moderate heart disease, one study found that patients taking CBD had a lower risk of heart failure. However, this study was stopped early because the number of participants was too low to detect a trend. This finding does not mean that CBD will prevent heart disease or even heart damage. More research is needed to support this finding.
